At
an early age, I was attracted to the creative and imaginative world,
via the classical venues of dance and drawing. It was a matter of
course that I would later turn my focus to the world of fashion.
Upon completing a program in design and fashion design in a Parisian school,
I started my career as a designer/graphic artist in women‚s fashions and
textile design.
Five years later, a turn of fate, I was seduced by the world of hats, while
participating in a course in hat design and confection. I not only learned the
traditional techniques of the millinery trade but also gained a very enriching
experience in terms of materials and volumes. I was no longer designing on paper,
but rather creating immediately in the third dimension and discovering the pleasure
of rapidly transforming my initial concept into a reality.
In 1994, I founded my own atelier and began a five year collaboration with
the Christian Lacroix fashion house. This proved to be an important and rich
learning experience. It allowed me to develop and confirm my own artistic approach
while remaining sensitive to the desires of a client.
Since then, I have gone on to create my own collections of hats and headpieces,
both as exclusive items and limited series, destined mainly for overseas boutiques.
Today my work is focusing on the exclusive, as I create exceptional, personalised
headpieces in tune with the personality or desires of the wearer. It is the relationship
between body and self image, as they say "the mirror of the soul",
that stimulates my creativity and freedom of expression.
The basis for my conception draws on a vision of balance and the refined
play of lines, materials and light. It is by design that I endeavour to evoke
an emotional and intimate realm between each piece and the woman that wears it
and thus the spell of this ephemeral art.
